Bio

My practice always starts from an idea, a principle, a rule, which I then translate through different techniques: computer vision, electronics, mechanics, drawn from twenty years in computing and numerous workshops at the Beaux-Arts de Paris. It stands in the lineage of concrete art: I don't compose an image, I state a rule and build the device that brings it into being. Chance and trace are at its core, and I never know in advance what form the result will take. Movement recurs often: a real-time translation, an hourglass turning, matter settling.
